Your New Crocin, Lutein and Zeaxanthin Formulation for Eye Health
CROCIN RICH, a natural formulation of crocin with lutein and zeaxanthin, offers the best support for clear and healthy vision. Whether you are a part of the aging population or a heavy digital screen user, you will definitely benefit from taking natural crocin for your visual health.
Our eye health formula’s main ingredient, Crocin, is a unique carotenoid naturally found in very limited plant sources like saffron (the dry stigmas of Crocus sativus L).
Natural crocin should not be confused with the over-counter drug, paracetamol, which goes by many brand names, including Crocin, by the pharmaceutical company Glaxo Smith Kline.
What makes Crocin different
In the search for supplementary support for visual health, Crocin is the latest breakthrough discovery. Human studies including various comparative studies have revealed evidence of crocin being highly beneficial for visual health as well as surpassing findings of AREDS2 study with the carotenoids Lutein and Zeaxanthin. AREDS2 study was led by scientists of the National Eye Institute (NEI).
Although belonging to the same category of natural chemicals called carotenoids, crocin is the only water-soluble carotenoid in nature with potent antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. Due to its limited presence in plant sources, crocin is not widely accessible in daily diets. In contrast, lutein, zeaxanthin, lycopene, carotene, astaxanthin and the likes are all fat-soluble carotenoids and present in various common fruits, vegetables, and foods.
Saffron has been used as a medicinal herb for various health conditions and as a luxurious spice for over 3,000 years. As its key active constituent, crocin is responsible for the many health benefits of saffron. In recent years Crocin has been extensively studied due to a renewed interest in the health effects of saffron. Mounting clinical and preclinical evidence has shown that crocin is the best natural ingredient for better eye health and cognitive health.
Scientific and clinical evidence of crocin's superiority
“Crocin as a vision supplement”, a review of clinical and preclinical studies of crocin on eye health, was recently published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal - Clinical and Experimental Optometry (https://doi.org/10.1080/08164622.2022.2039554). Based on the evidence, it has suggested crocin is an effective visual supplement for both healthy populations and patients with eye diseases.
Preclinical studies found crocin efficiently absorbs white light and blue light, increases antioxidant levels, protects neurons, reduces oxidative stresses, increases blood flow and nutrient supply in the retina and choroid, enhances retinal cell vitality, maintains critical visual structures, and support lens clarity.
More importantly, at least a dozen clinical studies evaluating the effects of crocin and saffron for visual health have been reported since 2010. The results of these human studies show that crocin or saffron effectively support healthy visual acuity, retinal flicker sensitivity, contrast sensitivity, intraocular pressure, and retinal functions.
Evidence from a double-masked, placebo controlled, phase 2 randomized human study supports the findings of crocin as a potent antioxidant and neuroprotective for healthy macula and visual acuity.
A 3-month human study published in 2019 by Australian scientists found saffron supplementation resulted in improved visual acuity and functions in participants including those using AREDS supplements.
In another long term (29+5 months) comparative study published in 2019 by Italian scientists, the neuroprotective effects and superior value of crocin and saffron supplementation in supporting visual health compared to AREDS2 supplements are further confirmed.
Choice of Crocin or Saffron Ingredients
Crocin Rich® is the only natural high purity crocin ingredient reviewed and granted “No Objection” by the FDA as a new dietary ingredient (NDI) so far. With its 100% water solubility and fast bioavailability, Crocin Rich® ensures the consistency and quality of crocin’s content and potency, a truly unparalleled ingredient to look for.
On the other hand, saffron varies significantly in quality and bioactive content just like any other plant material. Saffron has also been known to be subjected to frequent adulteration since the Middle Ages (Reyerson 1982). Unlike the genuine saffron or saffron extract used in clinical studies, most of the so called “saffron extract” ingredients used in supplements on the current market are in fact diluted saffron ingredients containing much less crocin than saffron itself. Products containing such watered-down "saffron extract" hardly provide any health benefits for users.
With these findings on the effectiveness of crocin as a superior choice of supplement, make the decision to improve your quality of life today.
